Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 June 2026
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you (“you”, “User”) and LexPilot, operated by [LEXPILOT OPERATING ENTITY] (“LexPilot”, “we”, “us”), governing your access to and use of the LexPilot website, application, and related services (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
The Service is intended for legal professionals and other authorised users, and is currently provided on an invite-only basis. You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your login credentials confidential, and you are responsible for all activity under your account. We may grant, refuse, suspend, or revoke access at our discretion.
3. What LexPilot is — and is not
LexPilot is an artificial-intelligence research tool that helps locate, summarise, and organise Indian case law and related materials. It is a research and productivity aid only.
- LexPilot does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, or professional services, and is not a substitute for the independent judgment of a qualified advocate.
- Use of the Service does not create an advocate–client, fiduciary, or any other professional relationship between you and LexPilot.
- Outputs are generated by automated retrieval and AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or fabricated. The corpus covers only a subset of Indian case law and may not reflect the current state of the law.
4. Your responsibility to verify (essential)
You acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for independently verifying all output of the Service before using or relying on it in any way. In particular, before citing, filing, submitting, or advising on anything derived from the Service, you must:
- confirm that every judgment, citation, neutral citation, statute, and section actually exists and is correctly stated, by checking the official or authoritative source (e.g. the official court record/website, official reporters, or recognised law reports);
- read the original judgment in full and confirm that any summary, holding, or proposition attributed to it is accurate and applicable to your facts;
- confirm the matter has not been overruled, stayed, distinguished, or otherwise affected by subsequent developments; and
- apply your own professional skill and judgment to all output.
AI models are known to “hallucinate” — to produce confident but false information, including non-existent cases and citations. You assume all risk arising from any failure to verify. LexPilot is not responsible for any reliance placed on unverified output.
5. No warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We expressly disclaim all warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, currency, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any output is correct or suitable for any purpose.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will LexPilot, its operators, owners, employees, contractors, or suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business, opportunity, or for any professional liability, sanctions, costs, or adverse outcomes, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service or any reliance on its output, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), or any other theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to us for the Service in the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) INR 1,000.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LexPilot and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (i) your use of the Service; (ii) your reliance on, or use of, any output, including in any filing, advice, or proceeding; (iii) your breach of these Terms or any law; or (iv) any content or documents you submit.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, or harmful purpose;
- upload or input any material you are not authorised to process, or any privileged, confidential, or personal data without the necessary rights and consents;
- scrape, bulk-download, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the underlying models, data, or source code;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its output except as expressly permitted;
- interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems; or
- misrepresent output as having been verified or endorsed by LexPilot.
9. Your content and inputs
You retain ownership of the facts, queries, and documents you submit (“User Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, and transmit User Content solely to operate and improve the Service. You represent and warrant that you have all rights and authorisations necessary to submit User Content and to permit such processing, and that doing so does not breach any law, duty of confidentiality, or third-party right. You are responsible for maintaining your own records and for client confidentiality.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, interface, design, and compilations, is owned by LexPilot and protected by applicable laws. Judgments and statutory materials are public records of the courts and Government of India and are not claimed as our property; however, our selection, arrangement, summaries, and presentation are protected. Except for the limited right to use the Service under these Terms, no rights are granted to you.
11. Third-party services and AI providers
The Service relies on third-party providers, including AI language-model and embedding providers, hosting, and authentication. Your queries and inputs may be processed by such providers, which may operate outside India. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use may be subject to their terms. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling and transfers. Do not submit information you are not permitted to share with third-party processors.
12. Professional and regulatory compliance
If you are an advocate or other regulated professional, you remain solely responsible for complying with all rules applicable to you, including the Advocates Act, 1961 and the rules and standards of professional conduct of the Bar Council of India and relevant State Bar Councils. You must ensure your use of the Service and any output is consistent with your professional, ethical, and confidentiality obligations.
13. Availability, changes, and termination
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time, with or without notice. We may suspend or terminate your access for any reason, including breach of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4–10, 14, and 15) will survive.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to any non-waivable rights, you agree that the courts at New Delhi, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by notice within the Service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. General
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
